The dust has settled after Baselworld 2017 and we’re beginning to see the major releases from Rolex, Tudor, TAG Heuer, Patek Philippe and Raymond Weil land in our showrooms. Here’s a rundown of our 5 favourites so far.
The new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Seadweller was the major talking point of Baselworld 2017 and has generated a huge amount of interest from our clients since it was announced. A larger 43mm case size and the addition of a “cyclops” magnifier over the date make this Seadweller appealing to a modern audience, revitalising this much loved Rolex model.
Tudor has recently turned heads by announcing David Beckham and All Blacks rugby star Beauden Barrett as brand ambassadors. The brand also made waves at Baselworld 2017 by announcing the release of several steel cased versions of models from the popular Heritage Black Bay family and the all new Black Bay Chrono. The 41mm Chrono is attractively priced at £3,430 and comes with a choice of steel bracelet or woven strap. This is a future classic in our opinion.
Baselworld saw many brands reintroducing vintage models to their collections and TAG Heuer followed suit with the new TAG Link. Based on the TAG Sports Elegance – first released in 1987 – the new link Link retains classic features in an updated 41mm case size. Run on TAG’s Calibre 5 movement, the Link is an affordable and stylish sports watch that would look at home in any collection.
Raymond Weil are continuing their ongoing relationship with The Beatles with the release of a second limited edition watch, this time honouring the iconic “Abbey Road” album. The black dial of this Maestro model features microgrooves, designed to look like a vinyl record. The Beatles are depicted striding across the world famous pedestrian crossing at the four o’clock position. The Abbey Road edition is the perfect way to pay tribute to the legendary Liverpool band.
2017 is an anniversary year for Patek Phillipe with the iconic Aquanaut celebrating its 20th birthday. To celebrate, Patek have released the Aquanaut Ref. 5168G. This traditionally casual sports watch is elevated to new heights with a 42.2mm case made from solid 18ct white gold. The timepiece retains its signature slim profile and is run on the impressive self-winding calibre 324 S C movement. Grab one while you can!
