As the eyes of the horological world fix on the small Swiss city of Basel, Rolex releases an exciting new collection for 2019, headed by a new addition to its Sea-Dweller range.
New to the collection for 2019, Rolex is introducing an Oyster Perpetual Sea‑Dweller in a yellow Rolesor version, combining Oystersteel and 18ct yellow gold. This new watch sees the first use of 18ct Yellow Gold in the Sea-Dweller range. With a 43mm case, this timepiece has a polished ceramic bezel, still fitted with the classic helium escape valve on the left side of the case. Powered by the calibre 3235 movement, the Sea-Dweller boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Water resistant to 1220m, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is worn on an iconic Oyster bracelet in stainless steel and yellow gold, fitted with the Glidelock extension system.
For 2019, Rolex introduces a new 42mm model- the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42. Crafted from 18ct white gold, this watch marks the introduction of this precious metal on a Rolex Yacht-Master model. A Chromalight display offers crisp legibility in all circumstances. Powered by Rolex’s calibre 3235 movement, this new reference marks the first introduction of this movement in the Yacht-Master range. Another exciting addition to the collection, Rolex’s Yacht-Master 42 is fitted with an Oysterflex bracelet, combining the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap.
Rolex introduces three new versions of the GMT Master II. 2019 sees the introduction of the GMT Master II watch with blue and black bezel, worn on a stainless-steel Jubilee bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp. With a bidirectional rotatable bezel and a two-colour 24-hour graduated Cerachrom insert in blue and black ceramic, this 2019 release supersedes the M116710BLNR previously manufactured by Rolex. Equipped with the calibre 3285, a new-generation movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, the GMT Master II boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
In the 18ct White Gold variation, an elegant blue lacquer dial and a meteorite dial option are also introduced, making up three exciting additions to the collection.
Baselworld 2019 also sees the introduction of the new generation of its Oyster Perpetual Day‑Date 36, available in 18ct yellow, white or Everose gold with distinctive new dials and gem-set bezels on some versions. Of the new combinations, two stand out references feature a novel dial design with a concentric gradient. The first, in 18ct yellow gold, is presented with a green ombré dial with the second, in 18ct Everose gold, displaying time across a brown ombré dial. Equipped with Rolex’s calibre 3255 self-winding movement, this Rolex Day-Date 36 boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
At Baselworld, Rolex also introduces two new variants of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31, in Yellow Rolesor and Everose Rolesor versions. The archetype of the classic watch thanks to functions and aesthetics that never go out of fashion, this latest release retains the enduring aesthetic features which make it instantly recognisable.
The epitome of robustness and elegance, the Oyster case of the Datejust 31 is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres, housing the calibre 2236, a new-generation movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. The first watch displays time across an olive-green dial with Roman Numerals and 11 diamonds set within the VI. The second features a rosé-colour dial with hands and Roman numerals in 18ct pink gold.
