Patek Philippe have launched an impressive selection of timepieces for their 2019 presentation, at Baselworld. Alongside some new releases, the Swiss manufacture has refined and updated many current references with both design and technical debuts.
The new 5520P Grand Complication has been unveiled. This reference has been designed as the ideal timepiece for travellers- boasting not only an exclusive dual time zone “Travel Time” system, but also a 24-hour alarm mechanism, and a classic gong which strikes on the hour. This feat of horological engineering has been made possible by the development of a new integrated self-winding movement- a caliber AL 30-660 S C FUS. The ebony black sunburst dial features alarm time, as well as on/ off indication and day/ night indication in aperture. The dual time zones are differentiated by the local and home time indication. The local time is identified by a hand. The numerals are gold applied with luminescent coating. The watch is presented in a 42.2mm Pilot- style platinum case and black calfskin strap, complete with clevis prong buckle.
Patek Philippe have also introduced a new complication housed in a 40mm steel case. The 5212A features a weekly calendar function, this is a semi-integrated mechanism which displays the current week number alongside the day, month and date. This feature has been designed with the modern business man in mind. The Calatrava Weekly Calendar houses a brand-new self-winding movement- the caliber 26- 330 S C J SE- which is visible behind the sapphire crystal case back. The stunning dial is silvery opaline in colour and is completed with blackened gold applied hour markers and exclusive letters and numerals.
The “Jumbo” Aquanaut has been updated for 2019 with the addition of a khaki green composite strap and dial. The new colour of the 5168G has been inspired by sports-chic, with connotations of the great outdoors being drawn. The self-winding caliber 324 S C movement is housed in a 42.2mm White Gold case and is water resistant to 120m, making it the essential companion for adventurers.
An update of the stainless-steel Nautilus has seen a new dial colour introduced. The 5726/1A features a dial with subtle grading of blue to black, alongside impressive annual calendar and moon phase functionality. This elegantly graded dial is powerful and complements the 40.5mm metal case and bracelet, without overpowering the sporty feel of the timepiece. The self-winding mechanical caliber 324 S QA LU 24H/303 movement can be admired via the sapphire crystal case back.
