It was a busy day yesterday in Geneva as SIHH 2015 kicked off in its usual excitement and fanfare. With meetings scheduled with three of our favourite brands - Cartier, Panerai and IWC - we knew we were in for some treats but it’s fair to say they surpassed our expectations.
SIHH marks one of the most exciting and groundbreaking few days for the watchmaking industry, exploring and applauding the design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a luxury timepiece.
Below are some of our personal highlights from the day, but with so many exciting launches this year it’s definitely worth a visit to each and every brand website for extensive launch news. We will continue to tweet highlights and news live from the event, so don’t forget to follow us on Twitter & Instagram.
The PAM00616 is Panerais fresh take on their well known divers watch, giving Panerai the stamp of originality by being the first to use carbotech in watchmaking.
Carbotech as a material which perfectly juxtaposes its light weight nature with exceptional strength. This is the first use of this fibre in watchmaking, and gives a nod to things to come in how technology can alter the landscape of fine watchmaking in even the most intricate ways.
The double moon display is such a perfect representation of the earth’s natural satellite were even tiny craters can be recognized.
The IWC booth was, as ever, filled with some fairly remarkable unveils and releases. Amongst others, the Yacht Club in red gold stood out as such a classic yet contemporary luxury watches choice.
This classic piece of craftmanship is the perfect masculine timepiece!
After a long day of shows and meetings we have a night ahead to relax, before an even busier day two! Follow us @David_MRobinson as we cover the day live as well as posting our favourite images on Instagram @David_MRobinson
