With a history of providing watches for the Italian Navy, Florence-born brand Officine Panerai only began producing timepieces for the commercial market relatively recently. The Luminor Marina 1950 is one of their most iconic watches and when the new Carbotech PAM661 model landed at our flagship Liverpool One showroom this week, we were all pretty excited!
In a full Carbon case, this 44mm Luminor Marina can be immediately distinguished from other members of the brand’s extensive collections. With the case formed through the layering of fine layers of Carbon, the PAM661 is the next generation of “Carbotech” timepieces progressing on from the brand’s first, the PAM616, released in 2015. With a subtle wood grain-like pattern sweeping across the black Carbon case, it is sure to stand out from any other timepiece in your collection.
Similarly to the PAM616, this latest “Carbotech” piece displays round hour markers set with the brand’s faux aged luminescence and the dial features the same bright blue small seconds hand. Always keen to develop their watchmaking technologies, encased within the PAM661 is Panerai’s updated P9010 automatic movement. With 200 individual components working on the wrist, the movement boasts a 72 hour power reserve, as well as the ability for the wearer to change the hour hand without the need to disturb your minutes – useful for the frequent traveller!
Taking its name from one of Florence’s most famous landmarks, the brown Ponte Vecchio leather strap provides a perfectly subtle flow from the tone of the case and clasp. The sweeping grain in the case – the result of the process of cutting the Carbon layers – means that no two watches will ever be the same, a particularly desirable feature for many keen watch collectors!
Our team of skilled Sales Ambassadors are on hand to introduce you to this piece, and to any other Panerai timepieces which you may wish to view. To arrange a viewing, please contact our Liverpool One showroom on 0151 708 1140, or by email at [email protected].
