Georg Jensen: Moonlight Grapes Collection

Georg Jensen: Moonlight Grapes Collection
Emerging from lockdown with the perfect jewellery to wear to those pending social occasions is fast rising to the top of the priorities list for DMR’s friends. Fortunately, Georg Jensen have us covered with the launch of new pieces in their signature Moonlight Grapes collection.

More than a dozen additions reveal a new, lighter design language from the brand. These novel, dynamic designs flow with the body and elevate your everyday moments into extraordinary occasions, from morning to night.

Inspired by the silver Grape bowl designed by Georg Jensen in 1918 — an article now considered to be an iconic Art Nouveau masterpiece — the Moonlight Grapes collection abstracted the original grape motif to create a fresh, contemporary line of jewellery. The brand’s newest designs, which draw inspiration from the boldness of the original Moonlight Grapes ring, play with asymmetry, using various sized beads to create more abstract, grape-like clusters.

Moonlight Grapes Necklace

A remarkable stand out piece within the new collection is this striking necklace. A string of different sized sterling silver beads follows the wearer’s neckline, almost like the natural growth of a vine, culminating in a fluster of grapes to form this elegant necklace. Wear with matching earrings from the same collection for a sophisticated evening look.

The new Georg Jensen Moonlight Grapes necklace is masterfully crafted from sterling silver with an oxidised finish. It hangs from a 44 cm sterling silver pea chain that can be shortened for the perfect fit.

Moonlight Grapes Ring

Another piece that is designed to follow the body is this new Georg Jensen Moonlight Grapes ring. A cluster of sterling silver beads follow the natural shape of the finger to create a wonder impact.

Representing an abstracted bunch of grapes, a symbol that has appeared in many of Georg Jensen’s original silver pieces from the early 20th century, the beads are given an oxidised finish to give a depth to the silver. The ring makes a perfect statement piece.

Moonlight Grapes Bangle

This latest release also introduces a striking and sculptural bangle that has the appearance of two vines wrapping naturally around the wrist. With an oxidised finish that enhances the natural forms, it makes a beautiful statement piece for the wearer. The bangle is designed to flow softly around the wrist, ensuring comfort and wearability.

As inspiration for the much-loved Moonlight Grapes collection, a grape detail from an original silverware pieces by Georg Jensen himself was reworked to create jewellery that references the Art Nouveau heritage in a bold and contemporary way.
