David M Robinson teamed up with IWC Schaffhausen to host two watchmaking masterclasses at the King Street Townhouse Hotel in Manchester for a selected group of VIP clients.
The two classes were hosted by IWC’s master watchmaker, Robert Trueman, and presented guests with an introduction to the world of watchmaking and also granted insights into how IWC achieve and maintain their high standards of craftsmanship.
Guests were given the opportunity to disassemble a basic IWC pocket watch movement under the guidance and instructions of Robert Trueman and learned about the intricacies and complexities of watchmaking and of how watch movements work.
After this came the tricky part: reassembling the watch movement, and as you can probably guess this was most definitely a lot trickier than taking it apart.
To end these special and unique events, guests were presented with a beautiful money box inscribed with the words: “For My Next IWC Watch”. The event also provided the opportunity for guests to view the new IWC Pilot’s collection and some extra special haute horlogerie pieces.
Everyone here at DMR would like to extend their thanks to IWC and in particular to their master watchmaker, Robert Trueman, for sharing their insights into the world of watchmaking and the skill that is required to produce high quality, luxury watches and for two very educational and entertaining masterclasses. We certainly enjoyed them and so did all of our guests. We’d also like to thank the King Street Townhouse Hotel for their warm hospitality.
