Those of you who know us well here at DMR know that our heritage in Liverpool means a lot to us. A city filled with culture and Vibrancy....it is and always will be our home, no matter where the wind blows us. The city (and with it Anfield) will always be our home.
You may also know that we put a huge importance on our philanthropic projects, we believe in giving back and are often on the lookout for worthwhile projects that we can get behind.
So when we were asked to get involved in Steven Gerrard & Jamie Carragher’s All-Stars charity football match it was a fairly easy decision to make. Some of our absolute footballing heroes played at Anfield on Sunday (John Terry, Fernando Suarez, Thierry Henry to name but a few…) providing a day of football nostalgia, remembering and embracing some of the great players to grace LFC’s grounds over the years.
The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, there was an overwhelming feeling of solidarity and goodwill as the LFC community came together in a day of sharing fond memories and watching some great football.
It also gave us the perfect reason to introduce our new logo…the DMR stamp sat proudly on the chests of the players in their warm up kit and travel clothes. It made us very proud, and provided a stunning first outing for the new DMR logo (let us know what you thought!).
All proceeds from the match go to Liverpool FC Foundation, that donates to a number of much needed charities such as Alder Hey Childrens hospital. If you missed out on the action yesterday, it’s not to late to donate…
If you are in the UK you can donate to the Liverpool FC Foundation and nominated charities by text.
Just text YNWA15 followed by the amount you would like to donate to 70070. You can give £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10.
For example: YNWA15 £10
There really was a lot of love in the air, there was a mutual feeling of happiness and respect. The charity match marked a nice way for some players to come back to the club and reminisce about some special memories. Suarez noted what joy he felt on returning to Anfield, and how he hopes that the fans will always know that they are forever in his heart. Alonso, when asked about the amazing atmosphere and reception the players received on Sunday, spoke of how “it felt like coming home”. Luis Garcia not one to mess around, spoke openly about his feelings towards the fans; “I love them”.
We had a fantastic day, and enjoyed every minute of it. Roll on next year!
