Introducing the Patek Phillipe 5524 Calatrava Pilot Travel Time....

Baselworld would not be Baselworld without a slightly controversial release from a brand you thought you knew inside out. And Patek Philippe have been the first to do just that.

CALATRAVA PILOT

The newly released Calatrava is indeed a pilot watch, and although Patek Philippe may not be the first brand that springs to mind when thinking of Pilot watches this isn’t their first.

The watch features dual zone-time mechanism, with local and home day/night indication on either side of the dial. At 6 o'clock you can find the date sub-dial. At 3 o'clock sits the crown, with two pump pushers sat on the opposite side of the dial.

The 42MM case is in White Gold, and the dial is a deep and textured dark blue (some may think a surprising choice for a Pilot) that sits on chocolate toned calf leather strap fixed with a clevis prong buckle (Patek’s Phillipe’s own description). The White gold numbers are luminous, as are the hands.

As we said, this is a slightly controversial and daring release for Patek Philippe and we wouldn’t decide if it is an opinion splitter. As we said yesterday, we were looking for that release that would change opinions on brand whose whole culture we seem to know and understand. What do you think about the Patek Philippe ref 5524G Calatrava Pilot Travel Time?
