TAG Heuer have released details of another two new watches ahead of Baselworld, each coming from different ends of their price range. The first is the Heuer Autavia 2017, a reimagining of the iconic Autavia chronograph. The second is the entry level TAG Heuer Link, a reissue of the 1987 TAG S/EL and icon amongst stainless steel sports watches.
The Autavia 2017 is the result of a public vote in which TAG Heuer asked which of their first generation Autavia chronographs should be reissued. The public chose (we think wisely) the Autavia 2446 reference, with its famous reverse panda dial and subtle orange accenting. The Autavia 2017 is 42mm (5mm bigger than the original) and is run on the TAG Caliber Heuer 02 movement. The face is home to three chronograph sub registers -thirty minutes, 12 hours and running seconds – and the classic Autavia logo sits proudly in the 12 o’clock position. The watch will come fitted with an aged leather strap which can be upgraded for a classic “beads of rice” stainless steel bracelet. This a watch for Heuer enthusiasts and is sure to be a huge hit. The Autavia 2017 will retail for around £3,900.
The TAG Heuer link was first released in 1987 (under the name Sports Elegance) and the brand reissued a ladies version just last year. The 2017 mens version is 41mm of contrasting brushed and polished steel and will be available to purchase with a sun-ray blue, black or silver plated dial. The Link will run on TAG’s Caliber 5 mechanical movement giving this no frills sports watch a strong heart which will never let you down. The watch is set to retail at around £2,200 which is very reasonable for a timepiece of this quality.
