DMR was pleased to join forces with our friends at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society on a unique way in which to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. A celebration of this nature requires a truly remarkable memento, and this week we are pleased to unveil a one-off diamond brooch, designed and manufactured by DMR.
Commissioned by Liverpool Philharmonic and presented to Her Majesty The Queen – the organisation’s patron – as a gift to mark this momentous occasion, the collaboration celebrates the longstanding links between Liverpool’s largest music organisation and DMR.
DMR proudly calls Liverpool home and has been a supporter of Liverpool Philharmonic for over 20 years. This latest chapter in our partnership wonderfully celebrates the best of British manufacturing and the finest talents of the city’s exports.
This one-of-a-kind piece of diamond jewellery brings together several key design elements which celebrate Her Majesty and this special milestone whilst telling the story of the Liverpool Philharmonic and its musical heritage. Set in platinum and bearing the Platinum Jubilee hallmark, round brilliant cut diamonds are hand-set within this piece, with larger diamonds arranged in the positioning of the opening notes of ‘God Save The Queen’ as they would be read on sheet music.
The shape and detailing of the brooch takes inspiration from the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall’s streamline moderne style – an international form of Art Deco architecture of the 1930s. This is translated into the winged shapes displayed at the end of the platinum sheet music.
Taking centre stage on this unique diamond brooch to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a large white pearl, as an ode to Her Majesty’s personal style and jewellery collection. The Queen is seldom seen without a string of pearls around her neck.
The result, shown here ahead of its final journey to Buckingham Palace, is a beautiful pearl and diamond brooch which shows the skills of DMR’s artisans and the expertise inside our workshops.
John Robinson, Managing Director at DMR commented, “It has been a pleasure to collaborate with our friends at Liverpool Philharmonic on the design of this bespoke piece of jewellery for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Not only does it mark this unique occasion that we are celebrating here in the UK, but it also reaffirms a genuine friendship that we have shared with the organisation for many years. We believe that the Liverpool Philharmonic remains one of the jewels in Liverpool’s musical crown.”
Did you know… This isn’t DMR’s first regal commission! In 1980, Queen Elizabeth II presented a piece of jewellery made by David M Robinson to Major W.R. Hern, the winning trainer at Royal Ascot’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes
